This itinerary is ideal for those who desire a complete experience, without haste, with the right balance between cultural visits, nature, adventure and relaxation.
Upon arrival in Fes, we warmly welcome our travelers and escort them to a traditional riad nestled in the heart of the medina. Fes, one of Morocco’s oldest and most captivating cities, is renowned for its UNESCO-listed medina — a mesmerizing maze of alleys, souks, and historic monuments.
The first day is devoted to relaxation and a gentle introduction to the city’s unique atmosphere, including a leisurely stroll nearby and a traditional Moroccan dinner.
We dedicate the entire day to an in-depth discovery of Fes accompanied by an expert local guide. We explore the medina of Fes el-Bali, one of the largest and best-preserved in the Islamic world, visit Al Quaraouiyine University — considered the oldest continuously operating university — and admire the famous Chouara tanneries.
The tour continues with the Royal Palace, the Jewish quarter of Mellah, and panoramic viewpoints offering breathtaking vistas over the city. This day reveals the profound historical and cultural richness of Fes.
We depart Fes heading south across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine architecture and pristine atmosphere. We then continue to the cedar forest of Azrou, where Barbary macaques may be observed in their natural habitat.
In the afternoon we reach Midelt, a town situated between the Middle and High Atlas, where we spend the night surrounded by evocative mountain scenery.
We cross the spectacular Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves and sweeping desert landscapes, passing through Erfoud before arriving in Merzouga at the edge of Erg Chebbi. Here begins the most iconic experience of the journey: the Sahara Desert.
In the late afternoon, we embark on a camel trek across the golden dunes, watching the sunset in the silence of the desert. The night is spent in a desert camp, with a traditional dinner and Berber music beneath the stars.
The day is devoted to exploring the desert region. We visit Berber villages, meet nomadic families, and discover local traditions. We travel to Khamlia, known for its Gnawa music, and explore hidden oases and fossil mines.
The afternoon is free for relaxation or optional activities such as quad biking or buggy rides on the dunes. A second night is spent in Merzouga, in a desert hotel or riad.
Leaving the desert behind, we head toward the spectacular Todra Gorges, an impressive canyon with rock walls rising over 300 meters. After a walk through the gorge, we continue to the Dades Valley, celebrated for its dramatic rock formations and scenic roads.
Overnight in a charming accommodation overlooking the valley.
We travel through the Valley of Roses to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Morocco.” We visit the renowned Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and backdrop to numerous international films.
We then cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, one of the most spectacular routes in the High Atlas, before arriving in Marrakech for an overnight stay in a traditional riad.
The day is devoted to discovering Marrakech, the Red City. We visit its principal monuments, including the Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and Majorelle Gardens.
In the afternoon we explore the famous Jemaa el-Fna Square, alive with street performers, musicians, and market stalls. Marrakech offers a unique blend of history, culture, and vibrant energy.
Depending on flight schedules, we transfer travelers to the airport or continue with optional travel extensions. The 9-day Morocco tour from Fes concludes, leaving lasting memories and a deep appreciation of the country.
